New Firmware Revision 2.42 Enhances Radios

SANTA CLARA, Calif., February 23, 2007 – Firmware for all PDL radios was recently updated to version 2.42, which can be downloaded directly from Pacific Crest’s website: www.pacificcrest.com/tech_support/updates.shtml. The new firmware is designed to discard older, unsent packets of data, as necessary, whenever data buffer overflow occurs. The receiving DGPS station will ignore the missing packets while the radio link continues to operate. Radios affected by this new firmware update are: PDLHBP, PDLLPB, PDLRVR, SITECOM, PDLRXO, Eurocard, and the EDL II.

New features found in version 2.42 since the last version (version 2.40) are:

  1. Enhanced reliability when transmitting large packets of data at 4800 baud
  2. Whenever CSMA prevents the transmission of a packet, new packets will replace the old ones that have been waiting in the queue.
  3. When the call sign is being transmitted, data packets are not allowed to accumulate in the input buffer.

For step by step instructions on how to install the new firmware, visit Pacific Crest’s technical bulletins page: www.pacificcrest.com/downloads/technical_bulletins.shtml.

Technical Support is also available at anytime from 8am – 5pm, M – F, to help with firmware upgrade questions or other technical questions.
